class=\"column\"><p>The origins of the winery are intertwined with the events of the past and bring the hands of time back to the heroic deeds of Napoleon Bonaparte. During the expeditions on Italian soil, the officers of the French general were stunned by the beauty that unfolded before their eyes. Among the French soldiers who fell in love with this slice of Italy was Assic, captain of the Napoleonic army. Enchanted by the panorama of the Langhe, Assic decided to erect a palace on the top of a hill, in Diano d&#8217;Alba, elected as a hermitage during his long stays in Italy.   <\/p><p>Even today, the palace stands out in the streets of the village, with its unmistakable fa\u00e7ade, dominated by the solemn red door. Throughout history, many illustrious personalities crossed the red doors of its threshold, including the Savoy colonel Giuseppe Castellazzo who destined the palace for wine use. But the real guest of honor was the first king of Italy, Vittorio Emanuele II. The gentleman king loved to lose himself in the pleasures of the table and in his frequent stays in the Langhe he crossed the &#8216;red door&#8217; several times to indulge in good drinking.
